GENERAL PURPOSE:
Provides safe, reliable, and efficient transport of program participants to health facilities. Assists with office duties such as answering the phone and greeting participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department, ensuring professional telephone etiquette.
Welcomes visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel, maintaining professional and courteous demeanor.
Provides transportation for eligible program participants to and from designated facilities safely and efficiently.
Assists passengers as needed, including those with special mobility needs and carrying items to/from vehicle.
Transports program deliverables, in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintains log or schedule of pick-ups, drop-off, activities, meal counts, and other services provided.
Inspects vehicles before driving to include: gas, oil, water, and brake and transmission levels, to ensure safe operation.
Performs routine safety checks on vehicles to include: operable brake lights, turn signals, tire pressure, first aid kit, and emergency road kit.
Arranges for vehicle repairs as needed.
Monitors weather conditions and informs supervisor of any problems that could affect transportation.
Adheres to federal patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
Immediately reports any problems encountered related to a client transport.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED and plus one year experience transporting passengers and providing administrative support. Tiwa speaking preferred. CDL license preferred. Valid New Mexico driver’s license with ability to meet Pueblo’s liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance. Must be able to pass drug test and background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies. Taos Pueblo reserves the right to exercise preference in hiring for qualified Tribal members/Indians in connection with all positions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Knowledge of rules of the road and road signage.
Knowledge of driver and passenger service regulations.
Skill in operating phones, business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to drive safely and efficiently.
Ability to operate wheel chair lift.
Ability to prepare and maintain written records and reports.
Ability to maintain confidentially.
Ability to perform basic first aid.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions and various dusts and mists may occur. Prolonged sitting while driving is a daily occurrence. Travel within the designated areas is required. Work is sometimes performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
