JOB TITLE: Gaming Accounting Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs moderately complex accounting and vendor licensing tasks of moderate difficulty through the technical application of bookkeeping principles and practices for the accurate maintenance of financial and vendor accounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Processes accounts payable, including tracking expenditures for budgets.
Processes department payroll and tax reporting, including entering data for employees’ time and corrections.
Resolves routine administrative problems and answers inquiries concerning activities and operations of department.
Assists employees with 401 (k), benefit enrollment, forms, and questions.
Oversees the registration of all Vendors of the Gaming establishment.
Oversees data entry of all applications and records relating to vendors.
Conducts background checks on gaming and non-gaming vendors.
Completes reports on vendors while also maintaining files and listing for Casino and Taxation.
Assists vendors on application process.
Attends meetings as assigned.
Prepares and submits payroll tax reporting.
Keys data and prepares batches for processing which involves sorting, alphabetizing, and running tapes to verify hash counts and totals.
Reconciles various expenditure reports to source documents; distributes and files financial documents and reports.
Answers telephones and assists in other clerical functions.
Sorts documents; codes, logs, reviews for accuracy; and verifies invoices for payment.
Prepares work in a manner that results in a complete and evident audit trail.
Researches processing problems, contacts departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payment, and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refers complex problems for solution.
Assists auditors when needed.
Maintains filing for accounting department.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field and two years accounting experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Gaming experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to pass drug test and background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of accounting procedures and financial systems.
Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
Knowledge of computerized accounting, bookkeeping practices, and record keeping procedures, as well as appropriate local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
Skill in account balancing.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to count currency accurately.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee occasionally is required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is regularly performed in an office setting with a low noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
