POSITION TITLE: Preservation Crew Foreman     

DEPARTMENT:    Tribal Government                          CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISOR:              Preservation Project Director          LOCATION:   Taos Pueblo

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans and manages the construction of the Pueblo Preservation Project. Provides daily direction and oversight of the Preservation Crew working on repairing and rehabilitating of the Tribal Village. Maintaining a safe work environment, and maintaining good communication. Foreman is a working crew member.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Discusses overall job performance and concerns with the director. Coordinates the work of Crew Members in completion of work orders; assists others with more complex tasks. Ensures crews have the proper tools in order to complete work activities; ensures crews are following safety rules. Assures that plans, blueprints, materials and supplies, and tools are on-site and available. Assists in all phases of renovation/rehabilitation projects and new construction. Constructs items consistent with plans, specifications, drawings or oral descriptions provided by others. Ensures employees, including new hires, are fully trained and follow all safety procedures. Ensures all work meets specifications. Arranges for inspection of work. Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs basic information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed. Knowledge of carpentry methods and practices. Knowledge of maintenance and use of working power and hand tools. Knowledge of occupational safety practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in a physically demanding position.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED. Five (5) years construction experience with two (2) years in remodeling and home renovation. Skills in all phases of carpentry from general framing through finishing carpentry. Valid NM Driver’s license. Must be able to pass drug test, physical examination and background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.
