Taos Pueblo Housing is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position and to include an excellent fringe benefit packages.

    • Position Title: Building Inspector                   Period of Pay: 1/23/19 – Open Until Filled
    • Department: Taos Pueblo Housing                 Classification: Exempt

Maintains records of properties, construction and inspection work to assure compliance with establish codes, laws and regulations. Inspection construction projects and remodeling to components are completed and in compliance with all applicable building construction and fire codes. Conducts annual or periodic inspections of managed housing units and private homes as required. Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs basic information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed. Monitors construction progress for safety hazards and reports such hazard and/or violations. Knowledge of the development code and the plans processing procedures. Knowledge of OSHA requirements. Database management skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data, compile information and generate reports. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Skills in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Words, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED. Five (5) years construction and maintenance at journeyman level and/or foreman level or in building inspections or a combination of education and experience. Certified Building Inspector preferred. Training in architecture, construction, structural or mechanical engineering preferred. Valid NM Driver’s License. Must be able to pass drug test and background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.
